Dear Parents,
Happy Monday! The flu is spreading quickly at Silver City. Please make sure your child comes to school with a jacket and I will remind them to put on their jackets when we go out for recess. Those of you who have sent me an email in regards to your child's flu, I will pray for their fast recovery and great health! Please make sure you get plenty of rest too. Let me know if we could support you in anyway.
As far as homework, I have created a folder for all of them at this time. They will have math packet homework to practice each night unless we need to reteach on a topic, I will let them know. I am making homework completion optional for you since Silver City does not required it. I know some of you have after school sports and may be busy. I will give them a mini quiz every morning to see if they understood the concept and review if necessary.
Unit 7 test will be administered in two weeks, around the week of 2/6. If your child is out for Flu, they can complete their Topic 10 packet that I gave them last week and have them read on myon or a "just right book" of their choice at their reading level. As far as reading log, I've made it easy by asking you to hold them accountable to read on their own daily and have you sign it and calculate the total number of minutes per week, then we'll add them up for the entire month. Remember 60 is minimum and 100 is what we hope for every child to reach.
We have an "Atlantis Shuttle Meeting" tomorrow in the afternoon, please remind your child to wear their "Atlantis Shuttle" shirt tomorrow.
In your child's Tuesday folder this week, they will receive an application for Spring After School Comet Classes. The deadline to turn in the application is Friday, February 9th.
We are currently collecting box tops! Don't forget to send them in so we can win the contest! :)
Book Fair will be Feb. 5th to the 9th week and Tuesday is out science night and the Book Fair will also be open!
We are in need of Clorox/Lysol spray, Zip Loc bags (quart or gallon), and classroom snacks if you wouldn't mind contributing.
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks for being a great partner in education! Have an awesome week!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Tsai
