Dear Parents,
A letter regarding daily reading of 20 minutes at home will be distributed in this week's Tuesday folder along with a reading log, which I would like to teach your child on how to log in their reading minutes. Please check in with them in regards to this piece of document and making sure they are recording their minutes daily. The county is requiring 20 minutes per day with a minimum of 60 minutes each week. They can read their choice book, a leveled book from their book basket to take home or logging to read from Myon. Your child can fill out the reading log each day after they have read. Many wonderful incentives will be awarded for developing their reading habits! Studies have shown when a student reads 20 minutes per day, that is 3,600 minutes per school year and 1,800,000 words per year. They normally scored in the 90th percentile on standardized test. Reading tags will be distributed at the end of each month for the number of minutes they have read!
Your child can log onto Myon from their "Class Link" page. Please let me know if you have any questions about this and how I can support you at home!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Tsai
