Dear Parents,
I hope you had a restful weekend! We have had a wonderful first full week of school! Thanks again for all of your wonderful snacks!
A few quick updates:
Please make sure your child returns their "VIP folders." Tuesday will be the official date for our fliers and PTA information that will be sent home! My weekly planner is up on itslearning. Make sure you ask your child to show you how to log in and navigate. I will demonstrate and teach them how to do this in class for those of you who are new to Silver City.
What are we up to this week?
Reading: Focused on Main Idea through literary stories
Math: Rounding Numbers / Adding and Subtracting strategies and properties / Word Problems (adding and subtracting)
Writing: We are continuing to write about our short stories on our favorite person/pets in our lives.
ELA: Noun
History: Map skills (longitude/latitude)
Science: Georgia Regions
I will be providing your child's username and password in their VIP folders for your convenience as well as their log in for their math Prodigy account. They can read on MYON at home and practice their prodigy math skills.
Quick note about Prodigy...Parents, the prodigy game caters to your child's math skills. If you help them with their answers, it will assume they knew that concept and move them to a higher math level. Please be aware of this, it's okay if they mess up on a concept, because it will repeat and ask them to practice some more. I will not be taking a grade on this, but please encourage them to practice as I prepare Envision Math packets and reading packets are coming soon for them to practice at home as well. Homework will be a "responsible" grade. They need to practice and bring it back for me to see how they are doing as well as formative assessments that I will give in class. Please let me know if you have any questions!
Thanks again for your partnership! Have a fabulous week!
